Search Engine Optimization(SEO) is built into a number of content features in Uscreen. You'll find the ability to customize the SEO Title, Description, and URL under:
- Live Events
On top of these, we handle the unseen SEO elements like the mark-up on your storefront pages for H1 tags and so on.
Before you jump in and expect results right away. Let us tell you from experience, that you can do EVERYTHING right when it comes to SEO and still not rank where you want to on Google. We share your frustrations but we're ultimately left to the whims of the Google algorithm. Our best advice is to stick it out and keep adding content even if you don't see the results you want right away.
It's important that you spend some time understanding the benefits of SEO and how to effectively set it up.
Let's use this Help Article as an example, when a search engine like Google crawls this article, it's going to look at the URL for the first hint on what it's all about:
Unfortunately, with just an ID number, it's not very descriptive. That's why in our Help Center we can append identifying data at the end like so:
Both links work, but we show the one with the description to Google so that they have a much better idea what this article is about. Think about how you share links with others as well, you've no doubt seen how links are formatted in text messages with a title and description and sometimes image thumbnails:
You can customize these directly in Uscreen. In each of the above listed features you'll find an SEO section like this:
The goal here is to make each of these as descriptive as possible to give your content the best chance it has of rising through the ranks on Google and other search engines.
Other SEO Options We Handle
Now, the SEO settings don't stop there as we handle a lot of the unseen SEO settings in the background. You can see in the above image that a thumbnail was sent with the link. This is an og:image tag which we generate from your video thumbnails that you upload. You can read more about og tags here. Safe to say though, we handle all this for you.
Of course, video titles you choose are used as H1 tags on each video page to let Google know your video is about and we even use structured data to markup the videos for Google Search correctly. If you've ever searched a term in Google and were presented with a video result it's because of the structured data. You can read about that here. Of course, these things take time to appear how you want and sometimes they never do. It's all in Google's hands.
