Categories in Uscreen serve as organizational tools, similar to genres. They group related videos, collections, or live events into broad themes, making it easier for viewers to navigate your catalog.

  1. Navigate: Go to Content β†’ Organize in your Uscreen admin area.

  2. Add New: Click Add New, then:

    • Name your category.

    • Choose its position in the catalog.

    • Add any additional details.

    • Add video content to the category.

  3. Save: Ensure all changes are saved.

How to Add a Category to a Video

Adding a category ensures your video appears in your catalog and is discoverable by your members.


Option 1: Add a Category via Video Settings

  1. Navigate: Go to Content β†’ Videos.

  2. Edit the Video: Click the More Options (… icon) next to the video and select Edit.

  3. Scroll to Organize: Locate the Categories section.

  4. Assign Category:

    • Select an existing category.

    • Or click +Add New Category to create one.

  5. Save Changes

    1. Note: A video can belong to multiple categories.

Option 2: Add Videos Through Category Settings

  1. Navigate to Categories: Go to Content β†’ Organize.

  2. Edit the Category: Select the category where you want to add videos.

  3. Manage Content: Under the Manage Content section, click the Add Content button.

  4. Select Videos: Choose the videos, collections, or live events to add to the category.

    1. Note: If a video is already part of this category, it will be grayed out and you won't be able to select it.

  5. Save Changes: Click Save to ensure your content is properly assigned.

How to Remove Content from a Category

If you need to adjust your catalog by removing videos, collections, or live events from a category, you can easily manage this through the category settings.

Steps to Remove Content from a Category

  1. Navigate to Categories: Go to Content β†’ Organize in your Uscreen admin area.

  2. Edit the Category: Click on the category you want to update.

  3. Manage Content: Scroll to the Manage Content section.

  4. Remove Items:

    • Locate the content you want to remove.

    • Click the three-dot menu on the item you want to remove.

    • Click on Remove from category

  5. Save Changes: Click Save to apply the update.

🎯 Tip: Removing content from a category does not delete it from your Uscreen libraryβ€”it simply removes its association with that specific category. The content will remain accessible elsewhere if it's assigned to other categories or collections.


How to Order Videos Within a Category

Arrange videos in a meaningful sequence to guide your audience.

Steps to Order Videos:

  1. Navigate to Categories: Go to Content β†’ Organize

  2. Edit the Category: Select the category to organize.

  3. Sort Content: Use the Sort Content tab to drag and drop videos or collections in the order you choose.

    1. You can use the Sort By Options which include:

      1. Manual (Default)

      2. Published Date Newest

      3. Published Date Oldest

      4. Alphabetical

    2. You can also use our Randomize Content button to shake things up

    3. Randomize Content is great to quickly randomize content for your members to and keep your catalog in a fresh order. Randomize is a one-time action.

  4. Save Changes: Ensure your order is finalized by clicking Save.

How to Order Categories in the Catalog

Steps to Order Categories:

  2. Select Category: Choose the category to reorder.

  3. Adjust Position: Update the Position Number (lower numbers appear higher).

  4. Save Changes: Click Save to apply updates.

  1. Edit Category: Go to Content β†’ Categories, select a category, and click Edit.

  2. Set SEO Details: Under the SEO Tab, update:

    • SEO Description: Provide a clear summary for search engines.

  3. Save Changes: Allow a few days for updates to reflect in search engine results.


Delete a Category

Deleting a category is a straightforward process, but keep in mind that removing a category does not delete the videos, collections, or live events within itβ€”they will simply become uncategorized.

Steps to Delete a Category:

  1. Navigate to Categories: Go to Content β†’ Organize β†’ Categories in your Uscreen admin area.

  2. Find the Category: Locate the category you want to delete in the list and click edit.

  3. Delete:

    • Click the More actions at the top of the category settings.

    • Select the Delete category from the dropdown menu.
