How to request a translation fix

Uscreen uses a service that provides professional translators for hire any time we need translations for user-facing text. Sometimes, context can be lost and a translation doesn't come out right, or maybe it could just use some improvements in tone. You can request a translation from us by following the guide below.

Please Note: Sometimes you might find some broad language in various places in the platform, it's often meant to ensure translations are industry agnostic. We'll let you know if any translation requests change the meaning too much or change terminology that needs to work in many different scenarios. It can be helpful to briefly switch your site to English so that you can see the originally intended language.

What We Need From You to Request a Translation

To start navigate to the page you want would like to request a translation for. If it's a request from one of your users you may need to impersonate that user to see what they are seeing.

Find the text you want to translate and copy it to your clipboard so you can paste it for us in your message to support. In your request please include:

  • the original text

  • The new proposed text

  • reason for change i.e. improves tone, spelling mistakes, incorrect phrasing, etc.

If you have a lot of requests, it can be helpful to add them to a spreadsheet to make it easier to confirm and perform all requests. You can find the template below for this.

Please note: While images can be helpful in showing context, our team needs to search for the original text in a text-only database to make any changes. So if you include screenshots, please ensure you still include the above details in the body of your request so we can copy-paste the text into our database.

Timeline of fixes

For changes to the storefront, most changes can be done in 1-2 weeks. For changes to apps, we may need new version bumps for the changes to become available.

In some cases, we'll have questions for you or requests for additional text changes that may be impacted.

Now that you've read our guide, feel free to reach out to our support team with any translation requests.
