What can you migrate on my own without requiring the Migrations team?

This guide outlines the most effective and efficient self-service methods for migrating your users and content to Uscreen.

Bulk User Imports

The Bulk Invite tool allows you to import multiple users at once and is ideal for migrating your existing audience to Uscreen.

Adding Users in Bulk

  1. Navigate to People

  2. Under Bulk Invite, click Download sample CSV to get a template

  3. Fill in the provided template with user information:

    • Column A: Name

    • Column B: Email Address

  4. Save the file in CSV format

  5. Upload your completed CSV by clicking Select Files or using drag and drop

  6. Click Send An Invite

Granting Access during Migration

To automatically give imported users access to content:

  1. Create a Freebie bundle and make it Private

  2. Enable Automatic Assignment

  3. Add your content to the bundle

  4. Import your users via CSV

  5. After import, you can disable the automatic assignment option

Bulk Content Uploads

You can migrate your video content to Uscreen using self-service methods.

Option 1: Direct Upload

For smaller content libraries, you can use the standard upload method.

  1. Navigate to Content > Videos

  2. Click Upload Videos

  3. Select files from your computer to upload

  4. Add metadata (title, description, thumbnail) while the videos are processing

๐Ÿ“ NOTE: We recommend uploading no more than 10-15 videos at a time, depending on your internet speed, to ensure successful uploads.

Option 2: Upload from Dropbox

For larger content libraries, our Dropbox integration offers a more reliable solution.

  1. Navigate to Content > Videos

  2. Click Upload Videos

  3. Sign in to your Dropbox account

  4. Select the video files you want to upload

  5. Click Choose

  6. Add metadata after import

Add Users using Zapier

For more advanced migration needs, Zapier allows you to create automated workflows between Uscreen and thousands of other applications.

Preparing the Automation

  1. Connect Uscreen to Zapier:

    • Go to Settings > Integrations in Uscreen

    • Copy your Zapier API Key

    • Add Uscreen as a connected app in Zapier

    • Enter your API Key when prompted

  2. Create a Google Sheet with the following columns:

    • Name

    • Email Address

    • Password (optional)

    • Offer ID (if you want to assign a freebie bundle)

  3. Set up your Zap:

    • Trigger: New or Updated Spreadsheet Row

    • Action: Assign User Access

โ„น๏ธ INFO: Providing and mapping a temporary password is optional and rather not advisable, since the Invite Customer (email template) already generates and sends a temporary password using the {{temp_password}} variable.

Running the Automation

  1. Map the necessary fields in the Zap Action: Assign User Access

  2. Fill out the Google Sheet with details of your users

  3. Publish your created Zap

  4. Invite more users by filling out new rows in the Google Sheet

๐Ÿ“ NOTE: Zapier does not check for new data instantly, so you may have to wait for the polling interval. This interval depends on your Zapier plan:

  • Free/Starter: every 15 minutes

  • Professional: every 2 minutes

  • Team/Company/Enterprise: every 1 minute

  • Automation: Process users continuously as they're added to your spreadsheet

  • Flexibility: Connect with various platforms (Mailchimp, Kajabi, etc.)

  • Customization: Create complex workflows with multiple steps

FAQs

How many users can I import at once using the Bulk Invite tool?

The Bulk Invite tool can handle up to 5,000 invitations at a time, however, we recommend batches of 500-1000 users for optimal processing. Larger imports may take longer to complete.

Will imported users receive login credentials automatically?

Yes, users imported via both methods will receive an invite email with login instructions. Make sure your Invite Customer email template is properly configured before importing.

What's the maximum file size for video uploads?

Uscreen supports video files up to 8GB per file. For larger files, you may need to compress them or use the Dropbox integration.

Can I retain my video organization structure from my previous platform?

While you cannot exactly migrate or maintain the same structure from your previous platform, you can recreate your organizational structure using collections and categories. Plan this structure before uploading to ensure a smoother process.
