Video Chapters

Navigate your content with precision and enhance viewer experience

Updated this week

Video Chapters allow viewers to navigate quickly to specific sections of your content, making it easier to find relevant information without scrubbing through the entire video.

ℹ️ INFO: This feature works similarly to chapters on major video platforms like YouTube.

Benefits of using Video Chapters:

  • Helps viewers save time by jumping directly to relevant sections

  • Improves content navigation for longer videos

  • Allows viewers to easily revisit specific parts of your content

  • Can be used as a workaround for skipping intros or other sections

Create & Manage Chapters

Chapters are added through timestamps in the video description. To add chapters to your video, follow these requirements:

  1. The first timestamp must always be 00:00

  2. Include at least 3 timestamps listed in ascending order

  3. Each chapter must be at least 10 seconds long

  4. Format each timestamp as: [time] [chapter name]

FAQs

Why does 00:00 have to be included as the first timestamp?

The first timestamp must be 00:00 because it establishes the starting point of your video's chapter structure. This timestamp marks the beginning of your first chapter and serves as a reference point for all subsequent chapters in the timeline.

Why aren't my chapters showing up?

If your chapters aren't appearing, check that you've:

  • Included at least 3 timestamps starting with 00:00

  • Listed timestamps in ascending order

  • Ensured each chapter is at least 10 seconds long

  • Published the video (chapters won't appear in the back-end preview)

Can I use chapters to help viewers skip intros?

Yes! While there isn't a dedicated "Skip Intro" button, Video Chapters serve as an effective workaround. By adding chapters to your videos, viewers can easily navigate to specific sections, allowing them to skip intros or any other parts of the video.

Are there formatting issues I should be aware of?

Some users have reported issues with extra whitespace when copying and pasting timestamps. If your chapters aren't working, try removing any formatting by pasting your text into a plain text editor first, then removing any extra spaces before adding it to your video description, or simply type in the chapters manually.
