Email Server Migration: Update Your DNS Settings
Email Server Migration: Update Your DNS Settings
Updated this week

🎉 We've got exciting news: our email servers have been upgraded to improve speed, reliability, and email delivery! However, to fully enjoy these improvements, there’s a quick step you'll need to complete by December 15th to avoid any disruptions in your email service.

To help you through this, we’ve created a simple step-by-step guide.

Quick Overview of the Upgrade

We’re moving to newer, more modern email servers that offer:

  • Improved Performance 🌐 - Faster, more responsive service

  • Better Email Delivery 📬 - More reliable email flow

  • Greater Stability ✅ - Reduced chance of delays

How Do I Know if I Need to Migrate? 🔍

If you need to complete the email migration, you’ll see a red banner at the top of your dashboard with a reminder. This banner will stay visible until you’ve completed the necessary steps.

What the Banner Means:

The banner indicates that your email domain requires DNS updates to ensure seamless performance with our upgraded email servers. If you see this banner, follow the migration steps as soon as possible to avoid any changes in your email service.

Simply click "Act Now" on the banner to get started with the migration process.

Step 1: Check Readiness 📝

Before you begin, ensure you have the following ready:

  1. Access to DNS Settings: These are usually available through your domain provider (such as GoDaddy or Namcheap).

  2. Admin Permissions: You’ll need the ability to add new DNS records.

  3. Some patience: Updating DNS settings is typically quick, but changes may take up to 48 hours to propagate fully. This duration depends on your DNS host.

⚠️ Note: The migration must be completed by December 15th, 2024. If not, your emails will still be sent but appear from a generic address rather than your custom domain.

Step 2: Update Your DNS Settings 🛠

  1. Start the Migration Process

    • Click on Set Custom Email Domain and then Connect to begin.

      • Verify that your correct custom domain is being used before clicking Connect.

  2. Generate New Records

    • Once you start, you’ll be provided with two specific records you need to create:

      • CNAME Record

      • TXT Record

These will be displayed in your migration tool once you click Connect.

  3. Add New DNS Records

    • Log in to your DNS provider (such as GoDaddy or Namecheap).

    • Navigate to your DNS settings and add the new CNAME and TXT records as shown in the migration instructions.

    • Tip: Some DNS providers might take up to 48 hours to fully propagate these records.

  4. Verify Your Settings

    • Once the DNS records are added, return to the migration tool, select the checkbox, and click Start Verification.

Troubleshooting Tip: If you see an error, this can sometimes mean the changes haven’t fully propagated. Try re-validating periodically over the next 48 hours.

  5. Once you have verified your domain and it is successful, you'll be finished and successfully migrated to our newer email servers. 🎉

If you still see the banner warning at the top of your dashboard, no worries. It will take a few hours for our system to remove the banner after you've successfully migrated.
