Apple and Google Play: Registering Your Organizational Developer Account

When creating an app for distribution, you must use an Organizational developer account. While individual accounts were previously an option, platforms now require business-level registration to ensure scalability and compliance.

Uscreen exclusively supports Google Play Business developer accounts for new Android app launches. Using a business-level account is the only way to ensure a predictable and successful launch for your Members

Why Business Accounts are Required

Standardizing on Business accounts allows us to bypass restrictive personal account rules that are outside of our control.

  • Avoid Launch Delays: Personal accounts now require 14 consecutive days of testing with 12 external testers, which frequently leads to rejection or reset cycles.

  • Predictable Reviews: Business accounts do not face these specific testing hurdles, leading to a much smoother approval process.

  • Professional Management: These accounts allow you to safely invite the Uscreen team as an Admin to build and deploy your apps.

  • Scalability: Easily manage multiple apps and future feature rollouts without personal account limitations.

Compatibility & Requirements

To set up your account, you must provide proof of a registered legal entity. Ensure you have the following information ready before starting the application:

  • Registered Business Entity: Your business must be a legal entity (e.g., LLC, Corporation).

  • D-U-N-S® Number: A unique nine-digit identification number required by Apple, Samsung, and Google.

  • Business Website: A public-facing website that reflects your brand.

Note: It can take up to 30 business days to receive your D-U-N-S number. Click here to learn more about How to Get a D‑U‑N‑S Number.

How It Works

If you do not currently have a registered business, you must form a legal entity before we can launch your Android app. You can still build your Uscreen site and content while this process is underway.

1. Form a legal entity (e.g., LLC or Corporation) using a service like LegalZoom.
2. Apply for your D-U-N-S Number once your business registration is complete.
3. Enroll in the Google Play Console specifically as an Organization.
4. Enroll in the Apple Developer Program and Google Play Console as an Organization. To ensure a professional experience for your Members, Uscreen requires business-level registration for both platforms. Registering as an organization from the start prevents the need for difficult account setups later

🛑 Important: Google Play does not allow you to migrate or convert an existing Individual account into a Business/Organization account.

If you currently hold an Individual account, you must create a new Google Play Business account from scratch to host your Uscreen apps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I still launch an Android app with an Individual account?
A: No. Due to Google’s stricter testing requirements for personal accounts, Uscreen requires a Business account for all new Android launches to ensure a smooth experience.

Q: Does this affect my Apple/iOS app?
A: To maintain a consistent and professional brand across all app stores, you should enroll in the Apple Developer Program as an Organization. This aligns your iOS app with the Google Play Business requirements and ensures you have the necessary infrastructure for professional app management

Q: What if I already have an existing Android app on an Individual account?
A: Existing apps that are already live will continue to operate normally. This change only applies to new Android app launches.

Q: What if I have an Individual account but haven't launched yet?
A: You must create a new Business/Organization developer account. Since Google does not support account type migration, a new business registration is the only way to proceed with your Android app development and avoid launch delays.
