📝 NOTE: Marketing Automations is currently in open beta and available on all plans as of October 2025.
What Are Automations?
Automations is a powerful tool in your Uscreen admin area that helps you nurture leads, onboard new members, and engage your existing audience.
You can build custom workflows based on the full context of your member statuses and activities, without relying on third-party tools.
Using Automations can help you:
Convert free trials and leads into paying members
Welcome and guide new subscribers
Run drip campaigns to keep members active
Add or remove tags for better audience segmentation
Why Use Automations?
Email remains one of the most effective tools for running a subscription business.
Automations allow you to send timely, personalized emails directly from Uscreen, potentially reducing or eliminating the need for third-party services.
💡 TIP: Automations can save you time and reduce costs by removing the need for separate email marketing tools.
How Automations Work?
Each automation is made of three building blocks:
Trigger
The event that starts the automation (e.g., a subscription purchase)
Optional Filter
Conditions to narrow who qualifies (e.g., only monthly plans)
Actions
What happens next (e.g., send emails, add tags, wait for a time delay)
💡 TIP: You can combine these to create custom flows tailored to your goals.
Creating a New Automation
Go to Marketing > Automations
Click Create Automation

Select a trigger (e.g., subscription purchased)
Add filters, if needed
Add your actions:
Apply or remove tags
Add delays with Wait steps
Send emails (customize subject, body, and CTAs)
Customize your emails in the visual editor
Click Publish
when ready
ℹ️ INFO: Once published, members who match the criteria of the automation will automatically enter the flow.
Sample Onboarding Sequence
Trigger: Subscription purchased
Filter: Plan is "Monthly Web" or "Yearly Web"
Actions:
Add tag:
web_onboardingSend Email 1: Welcome to your new membership!
Wait 24 hours
Send Email 2: How to get started
Wait 48 hours
Send Email 3: Download the app
Wait 72 hours
Send Email 4: Here’s a popular video to watch next
Remove tag:
web_onboarding
💡 TIP: This "tag sandwich" helps track when a member enters and exits a sequence.
Managing Automations
From the Automations dashboard, you can:
View and edit existing automations
Duplicate or delete automations
Set an automation to Draft or Published
Monitor how many members have entered each automation
ℹ️ INFO: Automations is a powerful new feature that helps you nurture leads, onboard new members, and keep your existing members engaged. You can build custom automations based on the full context of your member statuses and activities.
Overlapping Email Warnings
When creating automations with certain triggers, you may see a warning if your automation might send emails that overlap with Uscreen's system emails.
What This Means
If you create an automation that could send emails at the same time as an existing system email template (that you have enabled), the system will display a warning symbol in the automation canvas.
🔗 Learn more about Email Templates
When you click on this warning symbol, you'll see a dialog explaining the potential overlap and offering options to manage it:
The warning will identify which system email might conflict with your automation (such as "Subscription charge confirmation")
You'll have two options:
"Disable Email" - This immediately disables the specific system email to prevent duplicate messages
"I'll do it later" - This closes the dialog, allowing you to handle it another time
Why This Matters
This feature helps prevent your members from receiving duplicate emails for the same event. For example, if you create an automation triggered by "Subscription purchased" and include an email action, your members could receive both:
Your custom automation email
The standard "Subscription Charge Confirmation" system email
📝 NOTE: This creates a confusing experience for your members and increases the risk of your emails being marked as spam.
Common Overlapping System Emails
The system will check for overlaps between your automation triggers and these system emails:
Subscription trial started = Trial Subscription Confirmation
Subscription purchased = Subscription Charge Confirmation
Subscription canceled = Subscription Cancel Confirmation
Best Practices
Choose one communication method for each trigger event, either a system email or your custom automation
Disable system emails that overlap with your automations to provide a consistent experience
Use system emails for transactional messages and automations for marketing/nurture sequences
Tags & Filters: Optional but Powerful
Tags let you track, segment, and personalize your marketing. While optional, they can be used for:
Filters within automations (coming soon)
Audience targeting for future email broadcasts (coming soon)
