Live Stream with Zoom

Set up and securely broadcast Zoom Meeetings to your storefront

Updated this week

Uscreen offers two ways to integrate Zoom with your live streaming strategy:

  • Gated Zoom Links (Recommended): Connect your Zoom account to Uscreen and let members join interactive Zoom meetings directly through your platform

  • Stream Zoom via RTMP (Alternative): Broadcast your Zoom session to Uscreen using RTMP, keeping members inside the Uscreen player

This article covers both methods, with a focus on the simpler and more interactive Gated Zoom Links approach.

πŸ“ NOTE: Uscreen provides the player and CDN delivery. Your encoding setup, audio/video equipment, and internet connection are your responsibility. Our support team can help with Uscreen-side issues (event setup guide, player behavior), but cannot configure or troubleshoot Zoom or other third-party streaming software.

Gated Zoom Links (Recommended)

πŸš€ You can now use Zoom meetings as a gated live stream with Uscreen!

ℹ️ INFO: Gated Zoom Links is our recommended method for interactive live sessions where you want to see and interact with your members in real-time.

This allows you to schedule, promote, and restrict access to your Zoom-based sessions just like you would with a standard live stream, without needing to use RTMP or instead of using the native Live Studio.

Option A: Connect Your Zoom Account (Native Integration)

For the smoothest setup, connect your Zoom account to Uscreen directly via OAuth. Once connected, your Zoom account is detected automatically when creating a live event.

Step 1: Connect Your Zoom Account

Before creating a Gated Zoom Link event, you'll need to connect your Zoom account to Uscreen.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations

  2. Find the Zoom card under the Live Events section

  3. Click Connect

  4. Complete the Zoom OAuth authorization flow, where you'll be redirected to Zoom to grant access

  5. Once authorized, you'll be returned to Uscreen, and your Zoom account email will appear on the card, confirming the connection

πŸ“ NOTE: The native Zoom integration is currently available to select stores. Contact your Customer Success Manager to request access.

Step 2: Create a Gated Zoom Link Event

Once your Zoom account is connected:

  1. Navigate to Content > Live Streaming

  2. Click Add New

  3. Choose Zoom as the Live Event Type

  4. Your connected Zoom account will be detected automatically

  5. Fill out the details of your live stream (title, description, etc.)

  6. Configure the Access and Pricing options

  7. Schedule the Preregistration

  8. Set the Visibility to Publish

  9. Click Save Changes

  10. When ready to go live, click Start Live Stream

πŸ’‘ TIP: Make sure your Zoom Meeting is already started before going live in Uscreen. Your members will be able to join as soon as you go live.

Option B: Enter Your Meeting ID Manually

If you haven't connected your Zoom account, you can still use Gated Zoom Links by entering your Zoom Meeting ID directly in the live stream editor.

  1. Navigate to Content > Live Streaming

  2. Click Add New

  3. Choose Zoom as the Live Event Type

  4. Paste or enter your Zoom Meeting ID (or Meeting Link) into the Meeting Link field

  5. Fill out the details of your live stream (title, description, etc.)

  6. Configure the Access and Pricing options

  7. Schedule the Preregistration

  8. Set the Visibility to Publish

  9. Click Save Changes

  10. When ready to go live, click Start Live Stream

πŸ’‘ TIP: Make sure your Zoom Meeting is already started before going live in Uscreen. Your members will be able to join as soon as you go live.

Member Experience

When a member visits your live event.

  • Before the event starts

    • They'll see a countdown timer and can pre-register

  • When the event is live

    • A Join on Zoom button appears instead of a video player

  • Joining the meeting

    • Clicking the button opens the Zoom app and takes them to your meeting

ℹ️ INFO: For members without access, they'll see purchase options instead.

Cross-Platform Behavior

  • Web

    • Users click Join on Zoom and are directed to the Zoom web client or app

  • Mobile apps

    • Users tap Join on Zoom, and their Zoom app opens automatically

  • TV apps

    • Since Zoom meetings don't open on TVs, we show a QR code that users can scan with their phone to join

πŸ“ NOTE: Unlike the Uscreen Live Studio or RTMP streams, direct Zoom streams are not recorded by Uscreen. If you want a replay, you'll need to record the session manually in Zoom and then upload your recording.

Stream Zoom using RTMP (Alternative)

Use this method if you want to broadcast your Zoom meeting to Uscreen without sending users to Zoom directly.

If you prefer to broadcast your Zoom meeting directly to Uscreen (rather than sending users to Zoom), you can use Zoom's Live Streaming app to stream your session to Uscreen via RTMP.

πŸ“ NOTE: Some features of Zoom, such as Polls, Reactions, and Zoom Chat, will not be available when streaming to Uscreen this way. Zoom Workplace, Webinars, and certain features require a paid Zoom account.

Then select Start Live Stream in Uscreen.

πŸ“ NOTE: When setting up your RTMP stream in Zoom, make sure to disable "Require authentication to join" in your Zoom meeting settings. Our Stream URL uses RTMP (not RTMPS), which is incompatible with Zoom's authentication requirement. Leaving this setting enabled will prevent your stream from connecting properly.

Member Experience

With this method, members:

  • Stay within the Uscreen platform to watch your stream

  • Can use Uscreen's Live Chat feature to communicate

  • Don't need to have Zoom installed

  • Can watch on any device that supports Uscreen, including TV apps

πŸ’‘ TIP: This method is better for one-way presentations where you don't need to see or hear your audience.

FAQs

Can I use a free Zoom account for live streaming?

For the Gated Zoom Links method, you can use any Zoom account, though some features may be limited with a free account. For the Live Streaming App method, you need a paid Zoom account, as the free version doesn't support custom live streaming.

Will my Zoom stream be recorded automatically?

If you use the Gated Zoom Links method, Uscreen does not automatically record your session. You'll need to record manually in Zoom and upload the recording to Uscreen afterward. If you use the Zoom Live Streaming App method, Uscreen will automatically record the stream.

Can mobile users join my Zoom live stream?

Yes, mobile users can join your Zoom live stream. For Gated Zoom Links, they'll need the latest version of the Uscreen app (v.3.2.3+) and will be redirected to the Zoom app on their device.

What if I encounter an error when setting up the Zoom app?

If you see an error like "Failed to connect to Zoom services," verify that you've added the Stream URL and Key correctly. If the issue persists, contact Zoom Support, as this is typically an issue with Zoom, not Uscreen.

Where can I find live stream reports and analytics?

If you host your live event in Uscreen through Zoom's Live Streaming App, you'll find an attendees list and live stream analytics inside of Uscreen. If you're using Gated Zoom Links and hosting your event directly within Zoom, no reporting will be available in Uscreen. You'll need to find reports and analytics in Zoom directly.

Will attending my Zoom stream count towards my user's streak?

Streaks are counted based on watch time. With Gated Zoom Links, Uscreen does not have access to watch time since the stream is taking place on Zoom. Therefore, Gated Zoom Links will not count towards your user's streak.
