Moving to Uscreen from another platform? Our dedicated Migrations team is here to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
Depending on your plan, migration support covers transferring your customer data, subscriptions, and video content from your previous platform to Uscreen.
Looking to migrate on your own?
What Can Be Migrated
The migrations team can help transfer the following:
Customer Data
Member accounts (name, email, access)
including Leads (non-paying members)
Active subscriptions and billing data (Stripe only)
Next billing dates to avoid double-charging
Subscription plan mapping from your old platform to Uscreen
Video Content
Video files hosted on Vimeo Pro, Vimeo OTT, Dropbox, or AWS
Video metadata: titles, descriptions, thumbnails
Collections, categories, authors, and trailers
Downloadable file resources
ℹ️ INFO: On the Growth plan, content migration is self-service. This means you'll upload and organize your content yourself. Reach out to our Migrations team to discuss the options.
What Cannot Be Migrated
Watch history (in development, possibly soon)
Community posts and comments
Member passwords (members will be prompted to reset)
PayPal billing data (Stripe only)
📝 NOTE: Billing data migration is supported for Stripe only. If your members are currently billed through PayPal, they will need to re-enter their payment details after migration. Your migrations specialist will discuss options with you during the kickoff call.
How the Migration Process Works
Migrations typically take around 30 days from when all required data is received.
The process is broken into three phases:
Phase 1: Discovery & Kickoff
Your migrations specialist will reach out to schedule a kickoff call to understand your current setup, confirm what needs to be migrated, and align on a timeline.
They'll review your platform, content, and billing setup and create a shared checklist to track progress.
Phase 2: Content Migration
(10–14 days after data is received)
The team will upload and organize your video content in Uscreen, mapping it to your collections, categories, and subscription plans.
Phase 3: Customer Migration
(10–14 days after data is received)
Your member accounts and subscriptions are imported into Uscreen. The billing migration process is a shared responsibility between you and the migrations team. Here's what each side handles:
You are responsible for:
Providing your member data (Name, Email, Subscription, Next Billing Date, Stripe ID) via the CSV template, your migrations specialist will share
Accepting the Stripe data copy request on both your old and new Stripe accounts, as this is a Stripe requirement that only you, as the account owner, can authorize
Ensuring your members' billing information is present in your connected Stripe account before the migration date
Disabling any cancellation messages in your old platform before the migration begins
Canceling any recurring charges in your old platform that are managed outside of Stripe
📝 NOTE: Stripe data transfers must be initiated by the Stripe Account Owner. The Migrations team cannot authorize or complete the Stripe-to-Stripe transfer on your behalf. Your migrations specialist will guide you through the exact steps.
The migrations team handles:
Formatting your subscriber data and initiating the Stripe data copy request
Downloading the mapping document after the copy completes and re-mapping payment method IDs
Disconnecting the old Stripe account and reconnecting your subscriptions to the new one
QA checks and notifying you when everything is complete
ℹ️ INFO: Customer migrations must be scheduled at least 14 days in advance and take place Monday through Thursday only.
Before You Get Started
To keep your migration on track, make sure the following are ready before the process begins.
Account Setup
Your Uscreen site is configured with the required pages: Catalog, Login, Pricing, Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Contact
Your subscription plans are set up in Uscreen
Your custom domain is configured
You've reviewed the Go Live Checklist
Content
Your video content is hosted in an accessible location (Vimeo Pro, Vimeo OTT, Dropbox, or AWS), or you're ready to upload it manually
Member Data
You have a list of your members with their names, email addresses, and subscription details
You know which payment provider your members are currently billed through (Stripe or PayPal)
Billing & Stripe
Billing migration depends on your current payment setup. Your migrations specialist will walk you through the exact steps, but here's what to expect based on your situation:
You have your own Stripe account. This is the most straightforward path. You'll need to provide your Stripe Account ID, accept a data copy request in your Stripe dashboard, download the mapping document, and send it to the migrations team. Your specialist will guide you through each step.
Your members are billed through your old platform's Stripe account (common with platforms like Vimeo Streaming). You'll need to create your own Stripe account and request your subscriber data directly from your old platform. Uscreen will provide a template to help you make that request. Note that platforms like Vimeo typically only release this data near shutdown, so timing is important.
Your members pay via PayPal. PayPal billing data cannot be migrated. Your migrations specialist will discuss your options, which typically include running a re-subscribe campaign, preloading member accounts, and prompting them to re-enter payment details, or managing PayPal payments externally during the transition.
You have a mix of Stripe and PayPal members. Both paths will need to be handled. Make sure you can segment your members clearly before migration begins so nothing falls through the cracks.
Communication
Prepare a plan to notify your members about the move, and your migrations specialist can provide email templates to help
Disable any cancellation messages on your old platform before the migration begins, so they don't trigger when subscriptions are moved over
