What Are Uscreen Apple Watch Apps?

Apple Watch apps are the ideal addition to your iOS app if you’re running a fitness or yoga-focused membership! The app assists your users in tracking their workout sessions in real-time and synchronizing their metrics with their Apple Health App.

Getting Started

Compatibility

  • Requires: iPhone for setup and management.

  • iOS mobile will work even without logging in

  • All others will work only after user is logged in in app on device, which paired with Apple Watch

Installation

  • When the iOS app is installed on your iPhone, the Apple Watch app installs automatically.

  • If not, find it under Available Apps on the Watch app and tap Install.

Removal

  • To uninstall, tap the app name and toggle off Show on Apple Watch.


Key Features

  • Health Stats: Track your health data directly on the watch and display your heart rate and calories burned on the video itself.

  • Remote Control: Use the watch as a remote to control video playback on your iPhone or computer.

  • Workout Tracking: Track workouts and sync data to Apple’s Health & Fitness apps. Tap Start before a workout and End when done.


What You Can Do with Your Apple Watch App

  • Real-Time Stats: Track exercise metrics like heart rate, calories burned, and time spent training directly on the watch.

  • Sync Workouts: Log exercises in Apple Fitness and Health apps.

  • Remote Control: Play, pause, rewind, and fast-forward videos on the Uscreen iOS app, website, or Roku app (v3.13+).

  • Live & On-Demand: Seamlessly works with both live streams and on-demand content.


What the Apple Watch App Does Not Do

  • No Data Sharing: Health-related data is private and not accessible to Uscreen or to you due to Apple’s data privacy protections.

  • Limited Compatibility: Only works with Uscreen’s platform; cannot be used with other video players or apps.

  • No Detailed Analytics: The app does not provide detailed insights into specific data points from Apple Health.


Requirements

  • Uscreen-Branded iOS App: Necessary to qualify for an Apple Watch app.

  • Apple Developer Account: Required for setup.


How to Use the Apple Watch App

  1. Open the iPhone App: Sign in to your Uscreen iOS app and select a video.

  2. Open the Watch App: Launch the app on your Apple Watch.

  3. Start the Session: Press START on the watch app.

  4. Enable Permissions: Accept health and privacy prompts.

  5. Control Playback: Use your watch to pause, fast-forward, or rewind the video.

  6. Track Your Stats: View your heart rate, calories burned, and workout duration on both the watch and iPhone.

  7. End Your Workout: Tap End on your watch to sync data with Apple Health and Fitness apps.


Access to Data & Troubleshooting:

  • To track/view health stats, you must allow access to all requested data.

  • The first time you use the app, you’ll be prompted to allow access.

  • You can also enable access in the Health app on your iPhone.

Enable access on Apple Watch:

The first time you use the app:

  • Tap Start, then Review.

  • Write Access: All Requested Data.

  • Tap Next.

  • Read Access: All Requested Data.

  • Tap Done.

Enable access in Health App:

  • Open Health app on iPhone.

  • Tap Profile Image (top-right)

  • Below Privacy, tap Apps.

  • Tap the App Name.

  • Select Turn All Categories On.

  • Tap >Back >Profile >Done

Troubleshooting:

If you don't see Heart Rate or Calories Burned on your watch or the video:

Enable access to data in Health app
