Automations

Create targeted, timely email campaigns based on member activity, all within Uscreen!

Updated today

Note: Automations is currently in closed beta and not accepting new testers at this time. An open beta will be available soon.

What Are Automations?

Automations is a powerful tool in your Uscreen admin area that helps you nurture leads, onboard new members, and engage your existing audience. You can build custom workflows based on the full context of your member statuses and activities—without relying on third-party tools.

Using Automations can help you:

  • Convert free trials and leads into paying members

  • Welcome and guide new subscribers

  • Run drip campaigns to keep members active

  • Add or remove tags for better audience segmentation

Why Use Automations?

Email remains one of the most effective tools for running a subscription business. Automations allow you to send timely, personalized emails directly from Uscreen, potentially reducing or eliminating the need for third-party services.

💡 Automations can save you time and reduce costs by removing the need for separate email marketing tools.

How Automations Work

Each automation is made of three building blocks:

  • Trigger → The event that starts the automation (e.g., a subscription purchase)

  • Optional Filter → Conditions to narrow who qualifies (e.g., only monthly plans)

  • Actions → What happens next (e.g., send emails, add tags, wait for a time delay)

You can combine these to create custom flows tailored to your goals.

How to Create a New Automation

  1. Go to Marketing → Automations in your Uscreen admin.

  2. Click Create New Automation.

  3. Select a trigger (e.g., subscription purchased).

  4. Add filters if needed.

  5. Add your actions:

    • Apply or remove tags

    • Send emails (customize subject, body, and CTAs)

    • Add delays with Wait steps

  6. Customize your emails in the visual editor.

  7. Click Publish when ready.

Once published, members who match your criteria will automatically enter the flow.

Example: Onboarding Sequence

Trigger: Subscription purchased

Filter: Plan is "Monthly Web" or "Yearly Web"

Actions:

  1. Add tag: web_onboarding

  2. Send Email 1: Welcome to your new membership!

  3. Wait 24 hours

  4. Send Email 2: How to get started

  5. Wait 48 hours

  6. Send Email 3: Download the app

  7. Wait 72 hours

  8. Send Email 4: Here’s a popular video to watch next

  9. Remove tag: web_onboarding

💡 This "tag sandwich" helps track when a member enters and exits a sequence.

Managing Automations

From the Automations dashboard, you can:

  • View and edit existing automations

  • Duplicate or delete automations

  • Set an automation to Draft or Published

  • Monitor how many members have entered each automation

Automations is a powerful new feature in the Uscreen admin area that helps you nurture leads, onboard new members, and keep your existing members engaged. You can build custom automations, based on the full context of your member statuses and activities.

Tags & Filters: Optional but Powerful

Tags let you track, segment, and personalize your marketing. While optional, they can be used for:

  • Filters within automations (coming soon)

  • Audience targeting for future email broadcasts (coming soon)

Current Capabilities & Future Plans

Automations currently supports:

  • Triggers:

    • Subscription Trial Started - This triggers the moment a member starts a trial period for a subscription plan.

    • Subscription Purchased - This triggers the moment a member makes their first successful payment on their subscription plan.

    • Subscription Canceled - This triggers the moment the member cancels, not when their subscription period ends.

  • Actions: Send emails, apply/remove tags, wait steps

  • Filters: Subscription, bundles, status, etc.

Planned improvements include:

  • More triggers

  • More filter logic

  • Additional action types

  • Expanded tagging options
