Overview
To publish apps under an organization on the Google Play Console, Google may require you to verify your organization's website. This process involves adding a TXT record to your domain's DNS settings to confirm ownership.
Follow the steps below to complete the verification successfully.
Step 1: Log Into Google Play Console
Go to Google Play Console and log in with your developer account.
If verification is required, you'll see a Website Verification Required notification.
Click View Details.
Click the Learn More link to view detailed instructions.
Scroll to find the section titled Add a new Property, then click Click here.
This will redirect you to Google Search Console.
Step 2: Add Your Custom Domain to Google Search Console
In Google Search Console, select Domain as the property type.
Enter your custom domain (e.g.,
www.yourdomain.com) and click Continue.
Step 3: Get the TXT Record from Google
A pop-up will appear prompting you to verify domain ownership. Click on 'Start Verification'
Choose TXT from the verification method dropdown.
Copy the TXT record provided (it looks like
google-site-verification=...).
Step 4: Add TXT Record to Your DNS Settings
Depending on where you manage your domain, follow the steps below.
If You Manage DNS via Your Hosting or Domain Provider:
Log into your DNS host (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare).
Navigate to the DNS management section.
Click to add a new record:
Type: TXT
Name/Host:
@Value: Paste the TXT record from Google
TTL: Default or 1 hour
Save the record.
Tip: DNS changes can take several minutes to propagate. Wait a few minutes before verifying.
Step 5: Verify in Google Search Console
Return to the Verify domain ownership pop-up in Google Search Console.
Click Verify.
Once verified, you’ll see a success message. Click Done.
Step 6: Finalize Verification in Google Play Console
Return to the Google Play Console tab.
Click Verify Website.
On the Account Details page, scroll to the Organization Website section.
Confirm your custom domain is listed.
Click Send Verification Request.
Step 7: Confirmation
Once your site is verified:
A confirmation message will appear under the Organization Website section.
The original verification notification should disappear from your dashboard.
If the verification doesn’t go through immediately, check your email. Google may send a manual verification request. If so, follow the link in the email and repeat the steps in Google Search Console.
