Cookie consent banners inform visitors about the tracking cookies used on your website and allow them to manage their privacy preferences. These banners are required for compliance with various privacy regulations, including GDPR in the EU and similar laws in other regions.
Cookies Used by Uscreen
Uscreen automatically uses several essential cookies that are necessary for the platform to function properly:
Session tracking: Manages user sessions and login status
Country and IP tracking: Used for location-based features and security
Offer tracking: Applied during checkout processes
Email tracking: Used during checkout processes
INFO: For a complete list of essential cookies used by Uscreen, please refer to our Essential Cookies at Uscreen article.
Implementing a Cookie Consent Banner
Since Uscreen does not provide a built-in cookie consent feature, you'll need to implement a third-party solution. Here's how to add one to your site:
Option 1: Using the Head Code Snippet
Sign up for a third-party cookie consent service of your choice
Generate your cookie banner code from the service
Navigate to Code Snippets
Paste the cookie banner code into the Head Code section
Click Save Changes
NOTE: The Code Snippets are available on the Uscreen Plus plan. If you're not yet on this plan and need this feature for compliance purposes, please discuss an upgrade with our Sales team at sales@uscreen.tv.
Option 2: Using a Custom HTML Block
If you don't have access to the Code Snippets, you can still add a cookie consent banner to specific pages:
Navigate to Marketing > Landing Pages
Select and edit the Landing Page where you want to add the cookie banner
Add a new Custom HTML block
Paste your cookie banner code into the HTML block
Wait for the page to autosave
NOTE: This method will only add the cookie banner to the specific page where you've added the HTML block, not for the entire site. For site-wide implementation, the Head Code method can be used.
Best Practices
When implementing your cookie consent banner, follow these best practices:
Be transparent: Clearly explain what cookies you use and why
Provide choices: Allow users to accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or customize their preferences
Make it accessible: Ensure your banner is visible and easy to understand
Include all cookies: Don't forget to disclose any additional third-party integrations you've installed that track users (like Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, etc)
Keep it updated: Update your cookie banner whenever you add new tracking technologies to your site
TIP: Consider creating or updating your Privacy Policy and/or Terms & Conditions pages to include detailed information about your cookie usage. You can link to these pages from your cookie consent banner.
