You can use redirects to forward website visitors and search engine results from one URL to another.
We recommend setting up redirects when:
You move content to a different location (from one URL to another).
You delete a page that receives traffic or has backlinks.
You change the sitemap of your website.
You change your domain name.
You merge different websites.
You enable HTTPS.
You need to fix duplicate content on trailing-slash or non-www URLs.
The process to set up redirects will vary depending on your requirements.
Redirects on the same domain name
This situation is typical when you want to beautify your URLs.
Example: /example to domain.com/pages/example
Our Support Team can help you set them up. Open a support ticket request with a list of the redirects you need to set up.
NOTE: This option is available for our clients on the Uscreen Plus plan. If you are not on the Uscreen Plus plan, you can talk to our Sales Team for a quote.
Please note that none of the common page URLs can be altered or redirected, including:
/catalog
/dashboard
/sign_in
/sign_out
/join
/access_restricted
/dashboard
/dashboard/security
/dashboard/billing
/programs
/orders
NOTE: the original URL will appear on the URL bar after the redirection occurs
Different structures on another domain name or subdomain
This situation is typical when you change your domain name or have several active websites.
Examples:
olddomain.com/slug to newdomain.com/another-slug
We recommend using redirect pizza.
Create Redirects on redirect.pizza
Click on the Create Redirect button
Enter the source and destination URLs, then select the other settings like:
Redirect type: Search engines handle 301 and 302 redirects differently. We recommend using 301 unless the domain change is temporary.
URI forwarding: We recommend enabling it if you are changing the domain altogether.
Keep parameters: We recommend enabling it.
Tracking: If you have a higher plan on redirect.pizza and want to use their analytics feature, you can enable it.
Once you are ready, click on the Create button.
redirect.pizza will provide you with some information to create a DNS record.
NOTE: We are using NS1 to manage our DNS zone in this example.
For instance, we will redirect join.uscreen.work to uscreen.work
Select CNAME as the Record Type, enter the subdomain prefix and the destination (answer) provided by redirect.pizza. For instance, a.redirect.pizza. Then, save the changes.
Finally, validate your DNS records on redirect.pizza's interface.
NOTE: After you set up the redirect, it can take up to 24 hours to work globally due to caching on the internet.
