Link your External Web page

Seamlessly integrate external web pages with your Uscreen storefront to expand your offerings beyond video content

Updated this week

While Uscreen excels at video monetization, you may want to connect your storefront with external websites for additional functionality such as blogs, an e-commerce shop, or other digital services. This guide covers how to link various external web pages to your Uscreen storefront.

Your External Link as a Navigation Menu item

The simplest way to connect external websites to your Uscreen storefront is by adding custom navigation links:

1. Navigate to Website

2. Click on Navigation

3. Click + Add navigation link

4. Select Use Custom URL

5. Enter a Title for your menu item (e.g., "Blog" or "Shop")

💡 TIP: Use short titles for your navigation items as much as possible to keep the menu clean and uncluttered.

6. Add the full URL of your external web page

7. Click Save & Apply

ℹ️ INFO: Tick Show on website navigation checkbox whenever you're ready to show the navigation item on your website. Untick to hide it.

Optional Method of using a subdomain

If your main website is hosted elsewhere, and you want to integrate your Uscreen catalog.

You may consider using your root domain (e.g., yourdomain.com) for your main website and a subdomain for your Uscreen storefront (e.g., videos.yourdomain.com).

Then same as in the process above, you can add the subdomain as a navigational menu item.

Commonly linked external Web Pages

Connect a Blog Site

Blogs are excellent for content marketing, SEO, and engaging with your audience. While Uscreen doesn't have a built-in blogging feature, you can easily link to an external blog.

  1. Create your blog using a platform like WordPress, Blogger, or Medium

  2. Follow the steps above to add your blog URL to your navigation menu

  3. Consider matching your blog's design to your Uscreen storefront for brand consistency

Link a Physical or Digital Shop

If you want to sell physical merchandise or digital products like e-books, you'll need an external e-commerce solution.

  1. Set up an e-commerce store using platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, or Etsy

  2. Add a navigation link to your store from your Uscreen site

  3. Consider these integration options:

    • Simple linking: Just add your store to your navigation menu

    • Zapier integration: Connect Shopify or WooCommerce with Uscreen via Zapier to automate access to digital content when physical products are purchased

    • Video player product links: Use Uscreen's eCommerce tool to add product links directly in your video player

📝 NOTE: Uscreen does not directly handle physical product inventory, shipping, or non-video digital downloads. You will need to use a dedicated e-commerce platform for these offerings.

Best Practices when linking External Web Pages

  1. Maintain consistent branding across all platforms to provide a seamless user experience

  2. Use clear navigation labels so users understand where links will take them

  3. Consider the user flow between your Uscreen site and external websites

  4. Test all links regularly to ensure they're working properly

  5. Match design elements between your Uscreen site and external websites when possible

FAQs

Can I embed my Uscreen website into my existing website?

While Uscreen can support iframes, this is not an ideal method due to cross-domain, layout & styling, and performance issues. Instead, use the linking methods described above for seamless integration.

Will users need to create separate accounts for my Uscreen and the external website?

Yes, by default, users will need separate accounts. You can use Zapier to synchronize some user data between platforms.

What are popular subdomain prefixes for Uscreen stores?

Common subdomain prefixes include "members," "videos," and "catalog".

Can I use Uscreen to sell downloadable audio files?

Yes, you can add audio files as resources attached to videos. Users can download these files after purchasing access to the video. Alternatively, you can upload your audio files in MP4 format and include them in subscriptions.
