Authors Overview

Organize content by creator, make it easy for viewers to find their favorite instructors, and track performance for revenue sharing

If you have multiple people creating content for your site, the Authors feature helps you organize videos by creator, enabling viewers to filter content by specific instructors.

This automatically creates an author filter in your catalog and allows you to track viewership analytics for each author.

Assign Authors to Content

For Videos or Livestream

  1. Navigate to Content > Videos or Livestreaming

  2. Select the video/livestream you want to edit

  3. Scroll down to the Organize card

  4. Click the Authors drop-down

  5. Select the authors for the video/livestream

  6. Click Save Changes

๐Ÿ’ก TIP: You can assign up to 5 authors per video and livestream, and up to 10 authors per collection.

For Collections

  1. Navigate to Content > Collections

  2. Edit your collection

  3. Scroll to the Organize card

  4. Select the authors for the collection

๐Ÿ’ก TIP: Collections and the videos inside their playlists can have different authors assigned. For the most accurate analytics and best user experience, we recommend adding authors to both the collection itself and to each individual video within the collection. This ensures proper attribution and more precise performance tracking.

Multi-Author Support

You can assign multiple authors to individual videos. When a video has more than one author, all of them will appear on the video's program page.

๐Ÿ“ NOTE: Multi-author display is currently supported on the web only. On mobile and TV apps, only the first author assigned to a video will be displayed.

Author Display Locations

When you assign authors to content, they'll appear in several places throughout your storefront.

On Program Pages

Author names and photos appear in the Description tab under the content title.

Multi-Author Analytics

For videos with multiple authors assigned, all authors receive credit in analytics for views and watch time.

This means if three authors are tagged on a video that gets 10 views and 5 hours of watch time, all three authors will see their metrics increase accordingly.

To view author analytics:

  1. Navigate to Analytics > Content

  2. Filter by date range or specific author

  3. View detailed performance metrics

๐Ÿ“ NOTE: Since multi-author support is not currently available on mobile or TV apps, views and watch time from apps will only accrue for one author. The first author assigned to the video will get credit for these metrics.

Benefits of Using Authors

  • Improved Content Organization: Categorize videos by creator for easier navigation

  • Enhanced User Experience: Allow viewers to filter content by their favorite instructors

  • Performance Tracking: Monitor which authors drive the most engagement

  • Revenue Sharing: Use analytics to create fair compensation models based on actual performance

  • Professional Presentation: Build instructor brands within your platform

๐Ÿ“ NOTE: Authors don't have individual dashboards or special access to your platform. The feature is simply a way to organize and attribute content.

FAQs

Can I use authors for revenue sharing?

Yes! You can use the view time analytics to track how much viewership each author's content receives, then set up revenue-sharing arrangements based on that data.

Can community members create their own content as authors?

Authors are managed by platform administrators. Community members cannot independently upload content as authors, but you can create author profiles for your community contributors and assign them to videos you upload.

Can I assign multiple authors to collections or livestreams?

You can assign multiple authors to a collection (up to 10). However, multi-author display on the storefront is currently only supported for individual videos on the web.

Is multi-author supported on mobile and TV apps?

Not yet. On mobile and TV apps, only the first assigned author will be displayed. All authors still receive analytics credit regardless.
