Comments Overview

Gather valuable feedback from your members through Comments

Updated this week

Comments are a powerful engagement tool that allows your members to interact with your content and build community. Uscreen offers commenting functionality for both videos and collections, with slightly different behaviors across web and mobile platforms.

Enable Comments

To allow comments on your content:

  1. Navigate to People > Comments

  2. Configure the Access Levels when necessary

  3. Toggle Enable Video Comments

  4. Click Save

INFO: The Comments feature can be enabled or disabled anytime, and the comments and replies already posted will be preserved.

Comments Access Levels

This option lets you customize the access level for comments, defining who can view and post comments.

Access to view video comments

  • Anyone: all users including visitors without an account may view

  • All logged in users: users who have created an account may view

  • Logged in users with access: users who have active subscriptions may view

Comments Moderation

You can easily read, delete, or reply to comments on this page.

  1. Navigate to People > Comments

  2. Scroll or search for keywords in a comment

  3. Click on the video thumbnail to view the actual comment in the storefront

  4. Click the name of the user to view the account

  5. Select the tools on the right to interact with the comment

This page mirrors the actual comment on the program or collection page, which includes:

  • Comment Likes

  • @mentions tagging other members

  • Images or links attached to the comment

  • Comment edits and deletes

Sort and Filter

By default, the video comments are sorted by the latest activity, the time when the last comment in the thread was created.

You can adjust the settings to see the comments and replies, or comments only, especially useful if replies are not your focus.

You can also filter to hide comments where an admin has already replied and only show those without any response yet. This helps in focusing on new engagements.

Comments on Collections

The Comments feature works the same for collections but shows differently in the Catalog.

INFO: Comments on collections are separate from comments on individual videos inside the collection playlist. They will be shown in the Collection Homepage, while comments on videos in the playlist will be shown in the Collection Playlist page.

Comments on Mobile and TV Apps

Mobile App Comments

Comments are fully supported on iOS and Android apps with these features:

  • Members can view and post comments based on the access level settings

  • The same moderation tools are used for app comments as web comments

TV App Comments

TV apps (Apple, Android, Roku, Fire TV) have limited comment functionality:

  • Members can view existing comments

  • Due to input limitations with TV remotes, posting new comments is not supported on TV apps

  • Members are encouraged to use the mobile app or website for commenting
