Your content is already going to be searchable by category or authors (if you have added categories and authors), but what if you want to have your videos searchable by difficulty or length?
Maybe you run a yoga site, and you want to have filters for videos 10 minutes and under, 20 minutes and under, 30 minutes and under, etc, or maybe you want to have filters according to user fitness level. These are perfect reasons to create custom filters.
Default Filters
Every Uscreen catalog comes with two default filters:
Categories: Group content by genre or theme
Authors: Filter content by creator
INFO: When a published video is assigned a category and/or an author, these default filters automatically appear.
Custom Filters
Create and Add a Custom Filter
When you create custom filters, they can be assigned to videos and collections. To create filters:
Navigate to Content > Organize
Select Custom Filters and click Add New
Set Up the Custom Filter
Fill out the needed details for it to appear on the Catalog, and once created, you can always come back and change the option values or add new ones.
Assign the Custom Filter
Lastly, head to your video or collection to assign the appropriate filter value to it.
Navigate to Content > Video or Collections
Select the video or collection you want to add the filter option to, and Edit
Scroll down to Custom Filters and select the filter value you want to assign to the content
How do I organize my custom filters?
You can organize the position of both your Catalog Filters and the individual filter options in each filter.
Catalog Position
You're able to organize your custom filters by setting the order number for each filter. You have the power to arrange your custom filters in any desired order with ease, whether it be alphabetically or otherwise.
Filter Options
Drag and drop the order of the filter options as you desire. The dropdown list of options for your filter will reflect the order you set from top to bottom.
How are custom filters shown in the Catalog?
Clicking the Show Filter expands the filter section and displays the filter options. Right next to the default Category and Author filters, the custom filters are placed based on their specified position.
While there is no specified limit to the number of filters that can be created, having too many may not be as visually appealing in the Catalog.
