Related Videos Section

The logic behind the Related Videos and how they are dynamically determined

Updated this week

The Related Videos section appears on program pages, automatically suggesting content that might interest your viewers. Understanding how these recommendations work can help you optimize your content organization.

This section is located underneath the video player, right across the Description, Notes, and Comments tabs.

How It Works

Related Videos are automatically generated based on categories assigned to the content. When a viewer watches a video, the system displays other published videos and collections from the same category.

🔗 Learn more about Video Categories

The system considers two main factors when generating recommendations:

  1. The category of the current video being watched

  2. Categories of videos the user has previously viewed

There is no specific weighting system, and videos are randomly selected from relevant categories without prioritization.

ℹ️ INFO: The system will show random videos from categories that a user has watched or is currently watching, so the recommended videos can change every time.

Personalized Recommendations

The Related Videos section is dynamic and varies from one user to another based on their viewing history.

This means:

  • Two different users watching the same video will likely see different related video recommendations

  • As a user watches more content across different categories, their recommendations will evolve

  • When impersonating user accounts for testing, admins will see different related videos based on each user's unique viewing history

📝 NOTE: The dynamic nature of Related Videos makes it an effective tool for personalized content discovery, but also means you cannot predict exactly what each user will see.

Platform Availability

Related Videos functionality is available on:

  • Web browsers

  • Mobile browsers

📝 NOTE: Related Videos are not available on mobile apps or TV apps.

Customization Options

At this time, store admins cannot pre-determine which specific videos appear as related content. The system generates these recommendations automatically based on category assignments.

To influence the related videos that appear:

  • Organize your content into well-defined categories

  • Ensure videos are properly tagged and categorized

  • Consider how your category structure affects content discovery
