What are Coupons?

Coupon codes in Uscreen let you provide targeted discounts on your digital offers.

You can create discounts with either fixed amounts (like $10 off) or percentage-based reductions (like 25% off), and set redemption limits to control their usage.

๐Ÿ’ก TIP: Want to offer completely free access to a plan? Set a 100% percentage discount coupon with a Forever duration, and no payment method will be required at checkout.

Creating a Coupon

To create a new coupon code:

  1. Navigate to Marketing > Coupons

  2. Click New Coupon

Step 1: Coupon Details

Set the basic identity and discount type for your coupon.

Field

Description

Coupon Code

A unique code that members will enter at checkout. Only alphanumeric characters are supported (no spaces or special characters).

Discount Amount

Choose between two types: Fixed (a specific dollar amount based on your store currency) or Percentage (a % off the total price).

Coupon Description

An internal note for your reference. Visible to admins only, members will never see this.

๐Ÿ“ NOTE: The Coupon Code and Discount Amount cannot be changed after the coupon is created. If you need to update them, delete the coupon and create a new one.

Step 2: Content

Choose what the coupon applies to. Select one of the following:

All Products

  • Applies the discount to all offer types in your store: subscriptions, bundles, and individual content.

Subscription

  • Applies the discount to one or more specific subscription plans.

  • When Subscription is selected, you must also set the discount duration:

Duration

Description

Once

Discount applies to the first payment only. Subsequent billing cycles are charged at full price.

Forever

Discount applies to all future payments for as long as the member stays subscribed.

Repeating

Discount applies for a set number of billing periods that you define.

๐Ÿ’ก TIP: Use Once for first-month promotions, Forever for loyalty rewards, and Repeating for limited-time incentive windows (e.g., 3 months free).

Bundles

  • Applies the discount to one or more specific bundles. Select the bundles from the product selector.

Content

  • Applies the discount to a specific video, collection, or live stream. Select the content item from the product selector.

โ„น๏ธ INFO: Product thumbnails now appear in the product selector, making it easier to identify the right subscription, bundle, or content when building your coupon.

Step 3: Redemption Limits & Usage Rules

All fields in this step are optional. Use them to control how, when, and by whom the coupon can be used.

Redemption Limits

Field

Description

Coupon Expiration Date

The last date the coupon can be redeemed. After this date, the code will no longer be accepted at checkout.

Redemption Limit

The maximum number of users who can redeem the coupon. Once the limit is reached, the code becomes inactive.

๐Ÿ“ NOTE: The Coupon Expiration Date only controls when the coupon can be redeemed. It does not affect discounts already applied. Members who have already redeemed the coupon will keep their discount for the full duration it was set.

Usage Rules

Configure how this coupon can be used by customers.

Field

Description

Allow multiple uses per user

Lets the same user apply this coupon more than once. Available for bundles and content only.

Allow for plan changes

Localized Pricing & Coupons Interaction

Uscreen's localized pricing feature allows creators to sell in multiple currencies, showing prices in local currency to customers based on their location.

When using this feature with coupons, there are important considerations to understand.

๐Ÿ”— Learn more about Localized Pricing

How Coupons Work with Localized Pricing

There are two types of coupon discounts, and they interact differently with localized pricing:

  1. Percentage-based coupons work consistently across all currencies. For example, a 20% coupon will apply a 20% discount regardless of the currency the customer is using.

  2. Fixed amount coupons only work with your store's base currency.

๐Ÿ“ NOTE: Due to limitations in how coupons are processed through payment processors (Stripe and PayPal), fixed amount coupons cannot be automatically converted when redeemed by users paying with different currencies.

Best Practices

  • Test Coupons Before Sharing: Always test your coupons to ensure they work as intended.

  • Clear Communication: Provide clear instructions to users on how to apply coupons, including links to the correct checkout pages.

  • Monitor Performance: Regularly review coupon usage and performance to identify any issues or opportunities for improvement.

  • Avoid Overlapping Configurations: Ensure that coupons are not assigned to conflicting content types (e.g., individual videos vs. bundles).

If you have localized pricing enabled and want to offer discounts to customers across multiple currencies, it's recommended to use percentage discount coupons rather than fixed amount coupons.

๐Ÿ’ก TIP: This ensures that all your customers can benefit from your promotions, regardless of which currency they're using to pay.
