The parental gate is a protective feature designed for kid-oriented apps that prevents unintentional signups and subscription purchases by requiring an adult's verification.


The parental gate adds a simple math question challenge that must be solved before proceeding with certain actions in the app.

Platform Compatibility

The parental gate feature is primarily designed for mobile apps. It's also currently supported on the tvOS app.

For Fire TV specifically, parental controls work differently. Children using a Kids profile on Fire TV cannot add apps themselves, even if the app is rated for children. Apps must be added by an adult profile and then granted to the Kids profile.
