📝 NOTE: Available features depend on your plan level. Some advanced options may require an upgrade.

🤖 Captcha Protection

Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart (CAPTCHA) is a security feature designed to distinguish real users from bots.

It helps prevent spam, fraud, and automated attacks by requiring users to complete a simple challenge before accessing a website or service.

How Does Captcha Work?

When a user tries to sign in, create an account, or complete a purchase, Captcha may ask them to:

  • Identify objects in images (e.g., “Select all traffic lights 🚦”).

  • Check a box confirming, I’m not a robot.

  • Type a series of distorted letters or numbers.

Why is Captcha Important?

Prevents automated bots from spamming, hacking, or abusing your platform

Protects user accounts from fraudulent logins

Reduces fake sign-ups and enhances security on checkout pages

📝 NOTE: Captcha is enabled by default to protect your platform against bots, spam, fraudulent sign-ups, credential stuffing attacks, and payment fraud.

To disable Captcha, contact Uscreen Support. We strongly recommend keeping it enabled, as disabling it can leave your platform vulnerable to automated attacks that compromise member security and platform performance.

🔐 Device Session Limits (Beta)

Control how many devices your members can be logged into simultaneously across web, mobile apps, and TV apps.

Why Use Device Session Limits?

Device session limits help:

  • Prevent account sharing between multiple users

  • Protect your content revenue by ensuring each subscription is used by one person

  • Maintain fair access to your platform

Configuring Device Session Limits

You have full control over device limits with two options:

Option 1: Unlimited Devices Per Member

Members can log in on as many devices as they want simultaneously. This is the most flexible option but offers no protection against account sharing.

Option 2: Limited Devices Per Member

Set a maximum number of devices (1-7) that members can be logged into at the same time.

To set a device limit:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Security

  2. Under Device Session Limits, select Limited devices per member

  3. Choose your maximum devices per member from the dropdown (1-7 devices)

    • 3 is the recommended maximum for most platforms

  4. Your changes save automatically

ℹ️ INFO: When a member reaches their device limit and tries to log in on a new device, they'll be prompted to log out of an existing device first.

Subscription Plan Overrides

Want different device limits for different subscription tiers? You can set custom limits for specific subscription plans.

To add subscription plan overrides:

  1. Under Device Session Limits, make sure Limited devices per member is selected

  2. Click Use Subscription Plan Overrides to expand the section

  3. Click Add Subscription Plan Override

  4. Select a subscription plan from the dropdown

  5. Choose the maximum number of devices for that plan (1-10 devices)

  6. Repeat for additional plans as needed

To remove an override:

  • Click the trash icon next to the override you want to remove

💡 TIP: As an example, you might set a global limit of 2 or 3 devices, but allow your premium tier subscribers to use up to 5 devices.

How Members Can Manage Their Devices

Members can view and remove their connected devices at any time:

On Web:

  • Navigate to /account/devices or go to their account settings and select Devices

On Mobile App:

  • Tap More > Account > Devices

💡 TIP: From there, members can see all devices they're currently logged into and sign out of any device they no longer use.

Digital Rights Management (DRM)

DRM protects your video content from unauthorized downloading, screen recording, and sharing.

What is DRM?

Digital Rights Management (DRM) is an advanced content protection technology that:

  • Prevents unauthorized downloading of your videos

  • Blocks screen recording attempts

  • Encrypts your content for secure delivery

  • Protects your intellectual property

How to Manage DRM

The DRM card in Security Settings shows your current DRM status. This is a read-only setting that you cannot enable or disable DRM yourself.

To enable or modify DRM settings:

  • Contact your Success Manager or Sales to discuss DRM options for your plan

  • DRM availability depends on your subscription tier

FAQs

Can I temporarily disable Captcha for testing?

Captcha is enabled by default for security. If you need to disable it temporarily, contact Uscreen support. We recommend keeping it enabled to protect your platform.

What happens when a member exceeds their device limit?

When a member tries to log in on a new device after reaching their limit, they'll see a message prompting them to log out of an existing device first. They can then choose which device to disconnect.

Do device limits apply across all device types (web, mobile, TV)?

Yes. Device session limits count all devices together: web browsers, mobile apps (iOS/Android), and TV apps (Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, etc.) all count toward the same limit.

How do I know if DRM is right for my platform?

DRM is recommended if you have high-value content that you want to protect from piracy and unauthorized sharing. Contact your Success Manager or Uscreen Support to discuss whether DRM fits your needs and plan.

Will Captcha affect my members' experience?

Modern reCAPTCHA is designed to be minimally intrusive. Most legitimate users won't even notice it, while bots and automated attacks will be blocked. The security benefits far outweigh any minor friction.
