When configuring your Uscreen apps, we recommend creating private subscriptions for in-app purchases (IAP), distinct from your website subscriptions. Here's a breakdown of the rationale.
Why Separate Subscriptions for Apps?
Platform-Specific Management
Website subscriptions offer flexibility and immediate updates. Changes to pricing, trial periods, or subscription details on your Uscreen dashboard take effect instantly.
In-app subscriptions, however, are managed through the respective app stores (Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon Appstore, Roku Channel Store). These platforms require a submission and approval process. Any changes can take several days.
By maintaining separate subscriptions, you can independently manage your website and app offerings, preventing delays and ensuring seamless updates on each platform.
Operational Flexibility
Separating subscriptions allows you (or those managing your website) to freely experiment with pricing, trial periods, and promotional offers without impacting your app subscriptions, and without delays due to app store requirements.
Uscreen (managing your app store presence) can manage the app store subscription updates and submit changes when needed.
This separation minimizes the need for constant coordination between website and app management teams, reducing potential bottlenecks.
Enhanced Tracking and Analytics
Using private, app-specific subscriptions allows for clearer tracking of user acquisition and revenue sources within your Uscreen dashboard.
You can easily differentiate between website and app subscribers, gaining valuable insights into user behavior and platform performance.
Benefits
In essence, separate subscriptions provide:
Greater control and flexibility over your subscription offerings.
Streamlined management across different platforms.
Improved data tracking and analytics.
How to proceed?
Go to Dashboard -> Subscriptions. You can create a new subscription plan solely for your apps, or you can duplicate an existing subscription.
Instructions to turn a subscription private can be found in this help guide.
The final Subscriptions list will look like this (in this example the store had iOS only, but a single private subscription can be included on all apps - mobile and TV):
Important
When new content is added to your catalog, you'll add them to your subscription plans. Remember to add them to both plans (web and apps) otherwise, users might have access to different content based on their subscription origin.
When filling the app builder form, select the private subscriptions created solely for your apps and we'll proceed accordingly.
