What Are Gift Subscriptions?
Gifted subscriptions (Formerly Gift Cards) let your customers buy a specific subscription or bundle from your storefront and share it with someone else via a unique link. They provide an effortless way to grow your customer base and increase loyalty, especially during holidays or special occasions.
How Store Admins Set Up Gifted Subscriptions
Setting up Gifts for your storefront is simple:
Enable Gifted Subscriptions
From here Click on "Settings" and select "Enable."
Configure Available Gifts
Add the Gifted Subscriptions Link To Your Navigation
Ensure the gifted subscription page (
/gift_cards/new
) is accessible:Footer Navigation Menu: By default, a link is included in the footer of your storefront. If you've disabled the gift card link from your footer, you can simply re-enable it by clicking on "Show on Website Navigation" Learn More →
Custom Setup: If you’ve customized your storefront footer, you can still add a direct link to the gifted subscriptions page in a prominent location, such as the header navigation.
Viewing Purchased Gifts
You can view a list of purchased gifts and their status inside of Marketing → Gifts
How Buyers Purchase Gift Subscriptions
Buyers can purchase gift cards directly from your storefront. Here’s how:
Access the Gift Subscriptions
Footer Navigation Menu: By default, gift card links are available in your website’s footer. Buyers can scroll to the bottom of any page and click “Buy a Gift Card.”
Direct URL: Alternatively, customers can visit your gift card page directly by adding
/gift_cards/new
to your storefront URL (e.g.,https://yourstorefrontURL.com/gift_cards/new
). This link can also be shared via email, social media, or promotional campaigns.Once they have accessed the page they will see a gifting checkout page:
Create or Log In to an Account
Before purchasing a gift card, the buyer must create an account or log in if they already have one.
Select the Gift
The buyer can choose:
The subscription or bundle they’d like to gift.
The duration of the gift (e.g., one month, three months, etc.)
Complete the Purchase
Receive the Gift Code
After purchasing, the buyer receives:
A confirmation page with the gift card code.
An email containing the code and a shareable link.
The ability to access the gift card link from their purchase history.

How Recipients Redeem a Gift
Open the Gift Link
The recipient uses the link shared by the buyer (e.g.,https://yourstorefronturl.com/gift_cards/redemptions/new?c=YourCodeHere
).Claim the Gift
The recipient will either create an account or sign in with their existing account.
Resending Gift Codes to Buyers
If a buyer contacts you saying they didn’t receive or have lost their gift code, you can easily retrieve and resend it.
Go to the Marketing section in your Admin Area.
Find the gift in question from the list.
If the status is Pending, it means the gift has not yet been redeemed.
Click Show Code to reveal the gift code.
Manually send the code to the buyer via email or your preferred method.
Tip: You can confirm whether a gift has been redeemed by checking the status. "Pending" means it's still available to use and has not been redeemed.
Buyers can also sign in to their account on the web and go to Account → Purchases to view the gift they purchased. From there, they can click Share Gift to resend the link.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I offer a coupon code for Gift purchases?
At this point in time, no, you cannot offer coupon codes for Gifts. Currently, coupons are only supported for direct subscription or bundle purchases on the main checkout and do not work with Gift purchases.
What Happens When the Gift Period Ends?
When the gifted subscription period expires recipients will be prompted to enter payment details to continue the subscription. If no action is taken, access will end when the gift duration runs out.
