Live Stream Preregistration

Let your members get a heads-up when it's time to tune in

Live event preregistration allows you to gauge interest in your upcoming events by letting viewers sign up in advance. This feature helps you forecast attendance, build anticipation, and collect viewer information before your event goes live.

When you enable preregistration, your event appears in your catalog with a countdown timer, allowing viewers to indicate their interest by clicking "I'll be there".

ℹ️ INFO: Preregistration is a powerful tool for building excitement and can be set up weeks in advance or on the same day as your event.

Benefits of Using Preregistration

  • Forecast attendance: Know how many people plan to attend your event

  • Build anticipation: Create excitement before your event starts

  • Collect viewer information: Gather emails from potential attendees

  • Improve scheduling: Learn what timing works best for your audience

  • Allow calendar integration: Let viewers add your event to their personal calendars

Viewer Experience

When you enable preregistration, your event appears in your catalog with a countdown timer. What a viewer sees next depends on how the event's access is configured.

For Gated Livestreams

  1. Only users with access will see the "I'll be there" button

  2. Users without access will see the countdown timer and the purchase options

💡 TIP: You can use bundles to sell both live event access and the recording afterward. This is perfect for viewers who want to watch later.

For Free-for-All-Users Events

If the live event is set to Free for all users, a short registration form appears directly on the event page. It asks for:

  • Email address: the only required field. No password is needed.

  • Terms of service: shown as text to read, rather than a checkbox to tick.

  • Marketing consent: shown only to viewers in regions where local law requires it, based on their location. Viewers in these regions must tick Yes, receive news and updates via email to register. Viewers elsewhere won't see this option.

Once the guest clicks Register, they're preregistered, and the Register button is replaced with Add to Calendar.

ℹ️ INFO: Uscreen creates them as a lead in your account, tagged with the lead source: Live Event Preregistration, so they'll appear in your People list for follow-up through email broadcasts or automations. They'll also receive the Live Event Pre-Registration Email confirming their signup.

  4. Click Edit to customize the email

  5. Click Save when finished editing the email

  6. Also, click Save Changes at the top to apply the changes

ℹ️ INFO: The go-live email is sent to viewers who preregistered for the event and who have access or have purchased access to the livestream.

📝 NOTE: The go-live notification is a transactional email. Preregistering for an event is itself a request to be notified, so this email is sent to all eligible attendees regardless of their marketing consent preferences. This email is moving to preregistered attendees only, so the toggle is being renamed from Send email notification when event starts to Email preregistered attendees when the event starts to make clear who it reaches. New stores may already see the new label. Other stores will be moved over time, and until then, the email also reaches viewers who did not preregister.

FAQs

Can viewers cancel their preregistration?

Currently, there isn't a direct way for users to withdraw their "I'll be there!" preregistration. The preregistration is primarily for your tracking purposes and to send calendar invites and notification emails.

Do preregistered users automatically get access to the recording?

Access to the recording depends on how you've set up and priced the recording. If you want users to have access to both the live event and recording, consider adding both to a bundle.

Can I email everyone who preregistered before the event starts?

Yes, you can export the preregistration list and use Uscreen's Email Broadcast feature to send reminders or additional information before your event.

What happens if I need to reschedule my live event?

If you need to reschedule, you can duplicate the event and set a new date. However, preregistrations won't transfer to the new event.

Will preregistered users be automatically notified when the event starts?

Yes, if you've enabled the Send email notification when event starts option, all preregistered users with access will receive an email notification once your event goes live. Signing up for an event is itself a request to be notified, so this email is sent regardless of a user's marketing consent preferences.

Do guests who preregister for a free event automatically get an account?

Yes. When a guest registers for a Free-for-All-Users event, Uscreen creates them as a lead with the lead source Live event preregistration, and they appear in your People list. They'll receive a Live Event Pre-Registration Email confirming their signup.

Why do some viewers see a marketing consent checkbox?

Where local law requires explicit consent, the registration form shows a checkbox that viewers must tick to register. Viewers in other regions don't see it and can register with just their email.
