Giveaway Funnels Overview

Build your email list and capture lead information for potential customers

Giveaway Funnels let you grow your audience by offering free access to a piece of your premium content in exchange for a lead's email address.

Using Giveaway Funnels enables you to drive more users to your site, and once these leads have enjoyed your content, they'll be much more likely to become paying subscribers, especially with a discounted offer!

ℹ️ INFO: Giveaway Funnels will still send automated emails to leads even if they already have access to the content through another method, such as a one-time purchase, freebie, or rental (including bundles).

Setting Up the Automation

Setting up a Giveaway Funnel takes just a few steps.

You'll choose the content to give away, configure a discount offer, and customize two automated emails, and then you're ready to share your funnel link.

  1. Navigate to Marketing

  2. Click New Giveaway

Step 1: Select Your Content

Choose the piece of content you want to give away in exchange for your lead's email address.

  • Content Giveaway: select a published video that leads will get free access to after entering their email

  • Only published content can be selected

💡 TIP: Choose a high-value piece of content that gives leads a genuine taste of what your membership offers, like a sample class, a highlight episode, or a popular video. The better the freebie, the higher your conversion rate.

Step 2: Set the Discount Offer

Choose the subscription plan you want to promote to leads, and set the discount they'll receive if they decide to subscribe.

  • Subscription Plan: the plan you want to encourage leads to join

  • Discount Percentage: the % off the regular price applied at checkout

  • Discount Duration: how long the discount applies once the lead subscribes:

    • Once: discount applies to the first payment only; subsequent billing cycles are at full price

    • Forever: discount applies to all future payments for as long as they stay subscribed

    • Repeating: discount applies for a set number of billing periods that you define

💡 TIP: Use Once for a first-month promotion, Forever as a loyalty reward, and Repeating for a limited-time incentive window (e.g., 3 months discounted).

Step 3: First Email - Free Content Link

This email is sent immediately after a lead submits their email address.

Its job is simple: deliver access to the free content they signed up for.

  • Sent immediately after the lead enters their email

  • Includes a CTA button linking directly to the free content

  • Uses {{product_title}} to dynamically insert the name of the content

💡 TIP: Keep this email short and focused. The lead just signed up and wants their content right away, so confirm what they're getting and set a warm expectation for what's coming next.

Step 4: Second Email - Special Discount Offer

This email is sent only to leads who haven't subscribed yet.

It's your chance to convert them into paying members by offering a discount on the subscription plan you selected.

  • Sent a set number of days after the first email (you define the delay)

  • Includes the discount offer via the {{discount}} variable (do not remove this)

  • Encourages leads to subscribe before the offer expires

💡 TIP: Remind leads of everything they have access to beyond the free content they just enjoyed. Keep the tone warm and personal, and focus on the value of becoming a member rather than the discount alone.

Step 5: Review & Create

Before saving, take a moment to review all your settings: your content selection, discount configuration, and both email templates.

  1. Review everything looks correct

  2. Click Create Funnel

You'll see a pop-up with the unique link to your new Giveaway Funnel!

Copy and share this link to start capturing leads.

ℹ️ INFO: Your leads will have access to the free content for as long as your Giveaway Funnel is active.


Managing Your Funnel

Once your funnel is live, you can manage it from the Giveaway Funnels page. Click the ellipsis (…) next to the funnel to access these options:

  • Edit: update the funnel's content, discount offer, or email templates

  • Stop: pause the funnel without deleting it or losing data

  • Download CSV: export a list of all leads who have entered their email through your funnel

  • Copy link: quickly copy the funnel link to share

  • Delete: permanently remove the funnel and all associated data

⚠️ WARNING: Deleting a funnel is irreversible, and all associated data will be lost. If you're not sure, use Stop instead to preserve your lead data.

📝 NOTE: If a lead subscribes to a subscription different from what is offered by the funnel, it will not count as a conversion.


Funnel Workflow

Here's what your leads experience once you share the funnel link.

Capture Page

When a lead visits your funnel link, they see a simple prompt to enter their email address in exchange for free access to your content.

ℹ️ INFO: This is where their information is recorded in the system.

Conversion Page

After entering their email, the lead is taken directly to the video page for immediate access.

From here, they can watch the content and subscribe at the discounted rate offered by the funnel.

ℹ️ INFO: If the lead doesn't subscribe after accessing the free content, the automated email sequence kicks in to send the discount offer and encourage them to convert.


FAQs

Can I customize how my Giveaway Funnel page looks to leads?

The "Get free access" button color inherits from the Primary color set for your site. Beyond this, further customization isn't currently available. If this is important to you, share your feedback and let us know what you'd like to customize.

Which types of content can be used for a Giveaway Funnel?

Individual videos can be used, as long as the content is published.

Why isn't a lead appearing in the People page or receiving emails?

The lead likely opted out of marketing emails or didn't confirm their email address after creating an account through the funnel.
